Hi everyone
Shania's surgery went great! It was delayed from last Wednesday oct 18th to Friday because her blood work was to low, then moved to Wednesday oct 25th because of the surgeon Dr Gerstle’s schedule. Someone else might have had to do the surgery unless an opening came up, luckily one did and she had it on Monday oct 23rd 10:00Am. The laparoscopic surgery was supposed to take three - four hours so we were a little shocked to see him in two hours. But he said that they could have used Shania's surgery as a training video it went that well, to our great relief. Karen and I were very glad that Dr Gerstle was able to fit Shania in because he is an excellent surgeon, doctor and person. Shania was a real trooper through all of this, when the anesthetist came into pre-op she explained what she was going to do and off they went hand in hand just the three of them anesthetist, Shania and shimmers her pink bear (with hospital name tag and all). Dr Baruchel Shania's head oncologist (World renowned for his expertise in this field) came to see how she was, he is hoping Shania can start her sixth cycle of chemo Thursday, blood work permitting. Shania came home Tuesday night she is still in a considerable amount of pain so she has some morphine to control it. Shania has already gotten her costume as a cheerleader and Shannon as a rosebud princess. So hopefully she will be home for Halloween for she is so looking forward to it. Shania is having a Fundraiser at the Markville mall coming up on the October 28th selling her beaded jewelry, T-shirts, scarves, bookmarks and fridge magnets. On another note we have a cat named Whiskey he's one years old and is a ginger colour. Whiskey would always sleep with Shania on the end of her bed until she got sick with this cancer, then when Shania would come home from treatments he would sleep on the floor by her bed, until her fourth treatment then all of a sudden he started sleeping with her on the bed again. Animals have amazing senses so we are hoping this is a good sign, kind of spooky eh. On that note happy Halloween.
